We're going to be spending two nights in Brussels before joining a Rick Steves tour. In terms of location to most major sites, as well as metro stations, which would be the best area to stay in?
For 2 nights near or off the Grand Place; there is metro and train station close. I stayed here

I agree on staying near the Grand Place, since it is very close to Central station and within walking distance of other museums such as the Musical Instrument Mus. and even the EU Parliamentarim. I had a great experience at the Floris Arlequin Grand Place. A tad hard to find in the narrow streets your first time, but excellent staff, breakfast, and overall value.
Hi Rueferd,
I spent 4 nights in Brussels in late June. I stayed near Place St. Catherine and would highly recommend it. It was about a 10 minute walk to Grand Place, 15 to Central Station, 20 to the Royal Palace and the art galleries near there. When I spent some time near the university (ULB) and in Ixelles I caught a bus from Central Station- 30 minutes, no transfers, super easy. There were also tons of funky, great restaurants, grocery stores, clothing stores, etc. within easy easy walking distance. It was also pretty quiet at night. Let me know if you have any questions :)
