Hey guys. I’m looking for recommendations on a kid friendly Bed and Breakfast near Ghent for 4 nights. I will have a rental car and want to make Ghent a home base to explore western Belgium. I have a 3 year old and a 3 month old and will be there in April. We have stayed at agriturismos in the past in Portugal and Italy and they have been a home run! Thanks for all your comments!
We absolutely loved Ghent. We stayed at a lovely hotel on the canal, so I can't offer a suggestion on a bnb. But it seems like such a lovely, manageable location with a young family. You didn't ask, but I'm going to mention; If you are considering visiting the castle; which I think your 3 year old would love exploring (minus the quirky narration!) I did want to mention that it is a place you must be on guard at every second. Unlike the US where there are safety barriers; there are none. Kind of nerve wracking. The canal boat rides are also lovely.
Also, the restaurant across the street is unique and special...In Choc Gent. We thought we were walking into a chocolate shop, but it was a quaint restaurant with plenty of chocolate too. Our waitress told us they'd been around for many years.
Enjoy! We traveled throughout Belgium and the Netherlands this past April; and Ghent was a favorite!
That’s great! We are super excited. We will 100% be checking the castle out. The interactive stuff is always fun.
I stayed in a B&B right in Ghent which I found on the bedandbreakast.eu website. This website may have listings for the kind of location outside the city you are looking for.
Just a note that if you mean Brussels-Ghent-Antwerp-Bruges-Ostend, you may find that the car is an annoyance, with road traffic and limited, paid, parking in medieval town centers with many one-lane, one-way streets. For a more rural visit, a car can be helpful. But the list I gave is the most prosperous, crowded part of Belgium.
That’s perfect, thank you. We are primarily doing the Flanders Fields, so that sight is perfect.
