We're planning to take the train from Paris to Brussels this fall, and it occurred to me that it would be easy to take the train to Luxembourg for a day or two and then go to Brussels. Recommendations for things to do and see in Luxembourg?
Castles and scenic driving!
We just got back from New Zealand. As we were driving in the gorgeous countryside, my husband commented that New Zealand was the second most visually stunning country he's driven in. I started to try to guess what country was more stunning, he said Luxembourg.
Bourscheid and Viaden castles were lovely. I wished we had a little more time because the town of Viaden looked worth exploring. We enjoyed a day in Luxembourg city, plenty to do there. There's wine tasting along the Mosel.
Not in Luxembourg, but worth a stop, Bastogne. Battle of the Bulge and war museum.
I found the American Cemetery there very moving and interesting to visit. It is where Patton is buried as well.
Be aware.....all public transportation in Luxembourg--bus, train, etc--is free.
Hello. I tried to post a new commet/question, but for some reason, it would only let me reply. We are planing a trip to Normandy June 4th - 8th, and then heading to Luxembourg for a few days. Wonder what all we can see while we are there? The American Military Museum is at the top of our iist, but wondering if Bastogne is close enough, and what else? Thanks so much! We are headed to Munich and Prague after that. Hoping to get as many WW2 sites in as possible in 3 weeks. Thanks!
There’s a great WWII museum in the little town of Diekirch, filled with weapons/uniforms/trucks— all left behind in the fields after the battle of the bulge.
