Motel One Brussels

I stayed a couple of nights in the Motel One in Brussels and can definitely recommend it.

Obviously it’s a chain hotel, but I do like the Motel One chain - small rooms, but air conditioned and very comfortable, nice and stylish with a good continental breakfast.

I particularly like the location of this hotel. It’s on Rue Royale, which is a very short (uphill) walk from Brussels Central station. It’s walkable both to the historic centre around Grand Place and also the museums and palaces around Place de Palais and Place Royale.

Also there is a really nice bar and a courtyard where you can sit outside with a drink.

It felt nice to get away from the crowds of tourists around Grand Place and surrounding streets. At first glance there didn’t seem to be many restaurants around the hotel but then I discovered loads around the nearby Place de La Liberte and the roads going off in all directions.

Recommended.

Thanks for your review. I do like the Motel One chain, especially for their locations. I'll be staying in one next month for a week.

I think I'll check out the one in Brussels....!

Moving forward, Motel One will be a chain I consider wherever I go. The one in Glasgow is fantastic.

Thanks! That's a great tip for me since I normally fly into BRU. I'm very familiar with that area, and you are that there are many restaurants nearby. Since I'd already be uphill, I would probably be heading to the area around the Place du Sablon and streets just below it. I can easily get my chocolate fix there at Wittamer. 😁 Great find!!

I've stayed at Motel One locations in Berlin, Leipzig, Bremen, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Vienna, and London. The chain offers a consistent product that I really, really enjoy.

I am also a new fan of Motel One hotels. I stayed pre-tour (My way Alpine) in Salzburg Mirabell Palace, and post tour in Amsterdam - Europaplein, an easy metro ride into AMS, and just one stop from the Pijp. Also a 15 min direct sprinter train to the airport!

I had moved to a smaller hotel near Van Gogh museum after one night (pre-arranged), but the a/c was out there and it was a tiny miserable room. After one long and hot night, i was happy to return to Motel one, where A/C and an excellent clean room was waiting for me. And lots of vegan options at breakfast. I found them very accommodating and professional. The Salzburg location even loaned me ice packs for my swollen knee. Very kind! And the price was RIGHT.

I've stayed several times at various Ibis hotels, in the Budget and Standard types. Has anyone stayed at these, and if so, how do you think they compare to the Motel One experience?

Linda, I’d say they’re similar in terms of what you get from your room, but the general ambience of the public areas of a Motel One tend to be a lot more comfortable and design-led - the look of the public areas, bar and breakfast areas look a cut above an Ibis I think.

I could compare to something like a Premier Inn in the UK: it offers much the same as a Motel One in terms of comfort and reliability, but I wouldn’t sit in the bar area of a Premier Inn feeling sophisticated whereas I sort of do in a Motel One.

Thanks, GoldenGirl. I do love a good hotel bar, so that settles the decision for me! 😁
