I will be traveling to Belgium in late July when the Gentse Feesten will be occurring. I was planning on staying in Ghent to serve as my base location. I was wondering what it would be like in Ghent during this time. I have heard that it is quiet loud during the night and as it is a festival, will be very busy. Rather than Ghent being my base city, would it be better to stay in Bruges or Antwerp?

I would stay in Antwerp for that large week-long festival and take a quick train ride when you want to go to Ghent. Antwerp is a wonderful city to see also. Great restaurants and art scene.

Ok great so you think it would be better to stay in Antwerp rather than Bruges and maybe take day trips out of there rather than Bruges. I’ll be staying for about 3 days in one of those cities.

Yes, that is the way to go. You can easily visit all cities (Bruges, Ghent, Brussels) from your Antwerp location.
