Which Vienna room to rent?

My adult daughter and I will be visiting Vienna for a week in December. After searching various places to stay, I have come down to Hotel Austria and Pension Suzanne. Cost is similar and both are within the ring.

I would like comments from anyone who has stayed in either so I can finalize my trip. All help is very much appreciated.

Joe, we stayed 5 nights at Hotel Austria in September 2019. We based our stay from recommendations on Booking.com and the RS Forum. We were very pleased with the quiet location, cleanliness, comfort of the rooms, & short walk to major sights and restaurants. in addition the breakfast was the best we had in Central Europe. If you are looking for restaurant recommendations we enjoyed: Gasthaus Pöschi & Lugeck for traditional fare & Da Capo for Italian. All were in walking distance of the hotel. We would definitely stay at the hotel again.

I haven't been there, but friends whom I trust have raved about Pension Suzanne.

Another high mark for Pension Suzanne!

Its location is perfect...literally around the corner from the Vienna State Opera house and near the main pedestrian corridor with super easy access to the Hofburg, the museums, St. Stephen's, the famous coffee houses, and the Ring tram. There's also an easy car park a block away. Good ambiance in the building and rooms and fantastic guest service.

I echo the positive remarks about Pension Suzanne, including the convenient location on a little side street, which my room faced, and from which I heard no external noise. I will add that the staff were incredibly polite. I recall the breakfast spread being quite nice and well stocked, in a cheery breakfast room with plenty of tables for guests.

Thank you to all who responded. I guess I will stick with Pension Suzanne. After breakfast is factored in, it is a bit more expensive, but the location can't be beat.

My wife and I stayed in Vienna during the holidays in 2018. We stayed at the boutique hotel Das Tyrol. It was incredible and not as expensive as some of the other higher class hotels. I would recommend checking them out!

Stayed in Hotel Austria 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location cannot be beat though we did have a rental car we had to park in their garage during our visit and that was CRAZY. We loved the breakfast......OUTSTANDING......and our room was HUGE......so easy to walk out every morning and be so close to all we wanted to see in either direction. We also loved that were were steps away from a post office and a kind local that worked there spoke English and helped us load up a postal box full of our goodies to ship home so that we would not face customs, etc on our flight trying to get them home. It is located down an alley and easy to miss as you walk by so be aware of that......cannot say enough good thongs about this place!
