Hello! I'm thinking of spending the Christmas holiday in Austria....coming from Switzerland. Arriving maybe 12/23 and leaving 12/26. Most interested in sights, sounds of the holiday, Christmas markets, food, sightseeing.
Would love recommendations of best area to stay.

If you don’t arrive til the 23rd, you may be disappointed. Some Christmas markets will be closed as it nears Christmas, and tourist sites will be closed over the holiday, so your sightseeing options will be limited.
Thanks Patricia. I am aware that most of them will be closing around then. Just wanted somewhere where they still might be a lot of Christmas cheer.
Salzburg's main Christmas market is open through 26 December.
