Where's the Lauterbrunnen Valley Equivalent in Austria?

On a trip to Switzerland a few years ago, Rick was spot-on in recommending a wonderful day hike in the Lauterbrunnen Valley (Berner Oberland) that incorporated lifts and trains in a circular route. It was gorgeous and created a core memory day for my family.

We're traveling to the Austrian alps in August and want to replicate a similar day hike there. But I'm struggling to find a similar "Rick-worthy" route. His Tyrol/Vienna guide focused on the Italian alps and I haven't found a good resource for day hikes.

So fellow happy travelers, what day hike cuticular route would you recommend? 4-7 miles, nontechnical preferred. We haven't selected our base yet, so feel free to share all ideas in Austria.

Thanks!

In the last month or so, there was a very similar post. I did a quick search and couldn't find it, but maybe someone more savvy with searching could find it.

Not a hiker, but I’d go south into the Zillertal to Finkenberg for similar feel to the BO. Also look at the Oetztal, Soelden and south in the valley .

For a hike that combines hiking and a train, you could look at Schafberg in the Salzkammergut near Salzburg. It has a rack railway you can take halfway up and then hike to the top, but it's probably shorter than you're looking for. It's still very scenic.

The Defereggen Valley in Tyrol near Lienz is a nice (remote) area for hiking and the walk to the village of Jagdhausalm is around 5 miles and relatively gentle. You might even spot a marmot along the way.

I thoroughly enjoyed hiking both.
