What to see in Graz for a day and a half?

Hello, I'll be staying for 3 nights in Graz, arriving at 8 PM on my first day (Sunday) in July. I will thus have 2 full days - Monday and Tuesday for Graz but I plan to visit Maribor during one of these for a couple of hours as I've never been to Slovenia.

On day 3, the Wednesday I will probably take a 10 AM-ish train to Vienna to go to Bratislava where my Wed/Thu night is booked. This trip will take about 4 hours but passes through the Semmering Pass, which is said is beautiful.

I wonder what would you suggest seeing in Graz for what is basically a one full day and a half if I decided to do a Maribor day trip?

I'm thinking of climbing or taking the funicular to the hill with the clock tower, probably visit the Herz-Jesu-Kirche church as it looks interesting. As I like Modernist architecture I plan to visit Reininghauspark and basically spend the rest of my time there people watching. Is that a good plan? anything else I must at least see from outside? Thanks!

Allot some time to simply walking around the historic center, which is beautiful.

It is not one of my favorite brews, but the Gosser tour is absolutely worth your time if you are in Graz. The tour is followed by goulash and drafts at their own brew pub. You can easily spend half a day there occupied by this tour. When my wife and I visited, we had planned on touring the brewery in the afternoon and then carrying on to Vienna. As it turned out, we arrived too late for the tour and instead we stayed overnight and did the tour the next morning. We had a great time. It turns out that brewery tours are a destination for Europeans. We ended up with a group of Germans who had come by train for the tour and also for the goulash. Hmmmm.....Gosser beer tastes good with free goulash. Very good.
