What's the best venue for a musical performance in Vienna?

I want to attend a musical performance with 3 friends on Monday, July 22nd, the evening we arrive in Vienna on a Viking cruise. We don't want to spend a ton of money. Which would be the best choice in terms of overall experience, quality of the performance and value for the price of tickets: a concert at one of the local churches, Palais Auersperg (where the included Viking excursion is being held--we could save at least $50 booking it on our own), Kursalon Vienna, or the Musikverein Golden Hall? Thanks for your reply.

Well the Musikverein Golden Hall is probably the most famous concert hall in the world. Sorry Carnegie Hall.

But , The perennial question Isn't " How do I get to The Musikverein ? " Of course .the answer is " practice , practice , practice ! "

I would chose almost anything at the Musikverein Golden Hall. I enjoyed a Mozart concert there, but my main interest was seeing the hall.

wmt1: I'm really confused because at another website that I thought was the official one and that offers the same exact pricing, many of the seats are already sold for July 22nd and I can puchase tickets now.

To clarify things, the link I gave you is the website of the venue, i.e. the Musikverein. But the Musikverein is not the organizer of this concert, they just rent out the auditorium to the orchestra, the Wiener Mozart Orchester.

The orchestra does sell the tickets already, as you correctly noticed. Buy the tickets now from this website:

I would buy tickets Category A in the first row of Balkon right in the middle, if available.

wmt1: Thanks for the link. We don't want to spend 99 euro for Category A tickets. Of the Category B tickets, which do you think would be best: row 26, center on the main floor, or 4 rows back from the front of the balcony?

The acoustics are excellent everywhere. Where you want to sit is a matter of personal preference.
Category B seats are marked yellow.
Cercle 1st row is right at the edge of the stage. These are the seats closest to the orchestra, but you have to look up all the time, what might not be comfortable for your neck.
If you choose Balkon-Loge 2 1st row (either side) you look down onto the stage right at the orchestra, but from the side.
Parkett row 26 is the standard seat in the auditorium.
If you want to see everything from above and from a middle position, although further away from the stage, then take seats on Balkon row 4.

I've sat in row 1 and row 7 on the main floor. I didn't find the upward gaze problematic at all. I have also sat in the neighborhood of 4 rows back from the front of the (rear) balcony. I thought those were quite nice seats and gave a nice view of the performance. I think I personally would go for balcony over row 26 on the main floor.
