I am looking at Airbnb bookings for 3 nights in Vienna following a 6 day bike trip on the Danube. I have seen several listings in Josefstadt and Neubau. Would these be interesting places to stay and provide easy public transportation access to other parts of the city?

Either would be OK. Neubau might be slightly better as it has easier access to the underground as well as a few tram routes. Josefstadt you would likely need to catch a tram.
Neubau is also likely to be walking distance to the museum quarter if that is part of your plans.

Among my relatives and friends this apartment has turned out to be their preference, already been booked several times, for two adults only, though: https://www.airbnb.com/h/vienna-best
The location within Vienna is not so important as the easy access to public transport. The apartment is in the 5th city borough, which is not so hip as the 7th, and not so expensive as the 1st.

Thank you. Both responses were helpful. The apartment recommended sounds perfect, but unfortunately not available for our May dates.
