What do do in Vienna on New Years Eve/Day?

We're considering whether to be in Vienna or Munich for New Years Eve and a couple of days on either side. I asked in an earlier thread about holiday lights etc., but wondering more now about whether both cities are totally dead on those days, or if something interesting might be going on! Would love any ideas from folks who have been to either place (center or surrounds) during this time of year.

There are some major cultural events (opera, concerts), but the main attraction on December 31st is the traditional "New Year's Eve Trail" for 30+ years, a walking path through the city's center from one event to another, like live music, waltz dancing lessons, etc., from 2pm to 2am.

After a hiatus of two years due to Corona, this event makes a new start this year. The sequence of acts and attractions has not been published, yet.
