Hi, other than the hop on and off, are there any walking tours that is recommended.? We find that we enjoyed walking tours lead by the locals . Thanks.

One of the best walking tours I've taken - anywhere - was in Vienna in 2004, and was led by Brigitte Timmermann. I see that she now has her own company, with members of her family as well as herself leading tours. http://www.viennawalks.com/indexe.php?page=start

I have often recommended this wonderful documentary about Vienna , written and presented by Joseph Koerner of Harvard . Watch from the start , but at 00 : 1 3 begins the section about the second district ( Leopoldstadt ) . Barbara Timmermann figures prominently here , ( and again at 1: 05 ) and the historical background she provides is excellent -https://youtu.be/AFZBOTgL_Hk

Since you mention wanting a walking tour and connecting with locals you might look into Hlobal Greeters, a network of locals who offer free walking tours and info. Here’s a link to their site.
