I will drive from Salzburg to Hallstatt. Google Maps shows that the shortest route is also the scenic route along Wolfgangsee. I will have my luggage in the rental car and therefore would rather not actually stop at St Wolfgang or take a ferry ride. However, where can i find vista points along the west shore of the lake (Route 158) to have a good view of the landmark church in St Wolfgang? I can take some short stops for stretches and photos. Thanks. I am looking forward to my trip but am getting nervous about the details of driving.

Just pull over whenever you like the view :(
In a place like St. Wolfgang, I wouldn’t worry at all about luggage in a parked car.

Make sure that all your luggage is in the trunk and not visible from outside.
Just in case, check the travel insurances included in your credit card fees.
