Village travel from Austria to Germany.

We end our RS tour in Vienna on a Friday at the end of May. Our flight home is from Frankfurt Sunday morning. We want to stop on the way back to Frankfurt in the small German village of Beerfelden, home of our ancestors What we’re trying to figure out is the easiest way to get from Vienna to Beerfelden, then on to Frankfurt. We found a train route that goes from Frankfurt to Beerfelden, but that’s a lot of backtracking. Any tips on making this extra ancestral jaunt work? (besides driving ourselves, which we really do not want to do)

randy, when you are on bahn.com (German railway) or OEBB (Austrian railway) site, and put in departure Vienna (or Wien) and Beerfelden (which one?) as you destination, what does it show? You don't have to plot a route yourself - the computer will do that for you. I did a quick look and to appears to route you through a couple ways, but did not see Frankfurt on the routes. Do the trip Beerfelden - Frankfurt (flughafen?) separately if thats whats throwing you off.
