Any recommendations for a village in the Tirol region? We will have a few days in Austria prior to a bike and boat tour along the Danube in June. We could rent a car in Munich, but would prefer to use rail. Thanks.
Maybe Kitzbühel. It is a little pricey, but is a nice and famous place in the Alps. Depends on what you are looking for.

I don't know what you mean by village - it has a lot of meanings. I'd recommend Seefeld in Tirol hands down but I don't know if you'd think it is a town or a village. It has a station right in the middle of things, a lovely very small church, loads of walking paths, fair number of restaurants, great hotels including one of my favourites, the train line is between Innsbruck and Munich via garmisch partenkirchen. It used to go all the way through now the Austrian trains only go in Austria and the German trains only go in Germany, swapping over at Mittenwald (another nice place).
KITZBÜHEL! it's awesome! I've been in Tirol 6 times and Kitzbühel was the best. The town isn't very tiny and it's full of elegant shops, caffes and resturants, the atmosphere is perfect.
Seefeld and Kitzbuhel are both good choices. I really like Hall in Tirol; it's small core has less of an alpine feel than Seefeld or Kitzbuhel but it does have plenty of old world charm. Very quick train to Innsbruck, easy access to Seefeld and Mittenwald.
If you want to completely relax and not move around too much, apart from hiking, consider Pertisau on Achensee. It will take a bit longer to reach from Munich:
Obergurgl in Tirol.
Another vote for Kitzbuhel. It's old town is nice and the surrounding villages are very accessible by buses.
Badgastein
Seefeld
St Anton am Arlberg
I highly recommend the Stubai valley (there are multiple villages along the valley. I have always stayed in Nuestift im Stubital. but my daughter and her family stayed in Fulpmes and really liked it. You may prefer that since that is where the train from Innsbruck delivers you. You will have to transfer for a bus to get to the other villages...which is not hard to do). It is about 10 KM south of Innsbruck.
We pay about 100 euros for 2 people in a bed and breakfast. It includes breakfast and the fabulous Stubai Card for free. There are four lifts in the valley, and the card allows you to ride all of them for free (You get one trip up and down each one per day). It also has other benefits including a ride on the Rodelbahn (alpine coaster) that is at the top of the Serlesbahn lift in Mieders. Your ride it all the way down to the bottom of the lift, and it is the best!
The Stubai card also gives you free transportation. There is a train that comes from Innsbruck (I've never used it so you'll need to research times) and with the valley bus, you won't need a car. Here are more details about the card. (you have to scroll down on that page to see what is included in the Stubai card)

I have stayed in Seefeld as well. It does not suit me as well as Stubai which has more of the quaint village feel. I'm returning to Stubai for the 4th time in September. They both have beautiful view of the alps. Whereever you choose, I wish you a good trip.
