Hello! I'm studying abroad in France and am planning to travel to Vienna for a little vacation. Are there any youth hostels in Vienna that anyone has stayed in and would recommend? Or are there any other decent places to stay that aren't too far from everything and aren't outrageously priced? I'll be there in mid November.

Wombat's is definitely where you want to be. It is the place with the backpacking college students, for sure. They have three locations, but you want the one at the Naschmarkt. It is the most fun and the best located.

@ Megan....In Vienna I have stayed at the Wombats (the Lounge) located on Mariahilferstrasse opposite from the Westbahnhof. On the trips to Vienna I always stay a night or two at Wombats, then the rest of the nights at a hotel in the Westbahnhof area. Wombats is very recommendable, super helpful staff speaking fluent English, if you need that, convenient regarding public transportation. In the Westbahnhof area are 3 hostels, Wombats is the only one I've stayed at and is the nearest to the station.

Please do yourself a favor and stay at the Wombats at Naschmarkt. Such, such a much better area than Westbahnhof (unless you enjoy strip clubs and drunks).
