Vienna Weekly Ticket

Hi,

We will be staying in Vienna for 5 days, do you think this is worthwhile for 16.20 euro, or are things close enough together that it is better to pay as you go? Thanks.

If you plan to use subway a lot, yes it is worth it
It also gives discounts if it is Vienna card

We were in Vienna for 4 nights starting on a Monday and did buy the weekly pass- I am sure we took at least 8 rides on trams or Ubahns so it was worth it.

The convenience of having the pass rather than having to buy a ticket each time you want to ride is worth a few euros to me.

Ok folks. What is important to understand is that it is valid from 12:00 am Monday until the following Sunday. So if you arrive on Thursday or later, it makes no sense. When you get to Vienna, just buy your tickets or pass from the machine. It is very easy and in English. Why worry about this now?

Just to clarify, we are arriving Monday and leaving Saturday, so we probably will get it. Thanks for your replies.

We just got it this week (we had planned to the the 8 day ticket and share it) but this was cheaper for us to each get a pass. WE walk most places but it is still a bargain for when you don't.

We did get checked the first time we used it, so be sure you have it with you. We haven't seen a check set up since then but there were ten security people at the exit the very first time we traveled with the pass.

Just rode the Ringstrasse today, and they checked that we had a validated ticket, also.

We spent 3 days in Vienna without a vehicle. Picked up the pass at airport. It more than paid for itself!

The weekly ticket is great, well worth it, also so far no one has even checked. Vienna is the best, clean, orderly, polite, only two days left and not enough room to try all the different cakes and strudel at the cafes. Both Landtmann and Demel in the old section are very good and crowded.

I take public transport everyday. I get checked probably 6 times per year, so the chances of getting checked over a short period are small. That said, you must have a ticket. It is the tourists, after all, who pay the higher ticket prices so that us residents can get our yearly card for 1 Euro per day. Thanks tourists!
