Vienna: walking tour/food tour

Hi there. I will be in Vienna for 4 nights in December. I tend to book a walking tour in most cities I go as I find it to be a great way to get acquainted with the city and hear some of the history. In looking at Vienna, I see that there is a highly rates food tour offered as well as some lesser rated walking tours. In the Rick Steves book, I did not find any recommended tours.
For those of you who have been, any tour you would recommend? I am mid 40s and very active

Thank you!

I also love to book walking tours. In Vienna, though, I used the Rick Steves Audio Europe app to do the "Vienna City Walk" and the "Vienna's Cathedral of St Stephen's" walk. My favorite from the app was the "Vienna's Ringstrasse Tram" tour which I did, as recommended, on the public transit trams, rather than the more expensive tourist tram.

You could look into Airbnb tours. We did one in Vienna called ‘off the beaten path’. It was quite interesting but def took you to less visited spots. But there should be some other walking tours that hit the historical spots. (We also did a great Airbnb tour In Prague as well).

Edit to add - I just checked and the tour was called Hidden Gems off the Beaten Track - but I see he is taking a break from Nov - prob thru until spring - perhaps there are other tours you can look into.

We did not take any guided tours in Vienna, but I would love to take a food tour the next time we go there-the ones we did in Paris and Florence were wonderful.

I really liked the RS Audio Europe Vienna walking tours. Adding a food tour sounds like a good addition. Another possibility is a tour focusing on music given all of the performing venues.

I live in Vienna so have no need for a tour, however, I had a quick look online to see what is offered, particularly for food tours. Nothing really stood out and most seem to focus on the Naschmarkt, which is by far the least authentic market in Vienna these days. I think that going on a DIY cafe crawl combined with a visit to better markets would be the way to go for food. As you'll be in Vienna in December, the obvious DIY tour would be the Christmas markets. The Vienna Wurstelstand website is a great English language resource for all things food in Vienna. https://www.viennawurstelstand.com/category/eat-and-drink/eat/ Maybe I need to go into the tour guide business...

For for general sightseeing, I have used the self-guided Frommer's Walking Tours and found them to be fun.

I took two tours from this company and enjoyed both.

I took ”The Third Man” tour which covered various places shown in the film (make sure to watch the film before you go) and one of the Jewish themed tours which had a really excellent guide.

I would suggest you to find some local travel guides who will dive you into the identical charm of Vienna, it may cost a bit more then some group tours but it does worse it, don't want to recommend someone as I know there are a huge variants in Google and you may find anyone you like most and finally book your trip.
