vienna: vienna pass vs. city card

hello all,

i just arrived in vienna and have 3 full days. my primary goal is to visit the art museums, leopold, kunsthistorishes, albertina, and belvedere. in addition, i want to see the st. stephen's cathedral, a couple of other churches, and the hundertwasser house. being a third man fan i want to see the Ferris wheel, possibly the sewers, and a couple of other featured locations. not interested in the opera, or going to the schönbrunn palace. i know some of the above are not included in either card. i would love to hear your opinion on the most cost-effective, especially for the art museums.

thank you!

Just buy the week pass (€17.10) for public transort to get around easily. I doubt that you can visit so much places in that short time so the city card will pay off.

... instead pay as i go.

This is the most expensive way to use public transport, not to talk about the hassles to get a ticket every time. The whole public transport system in Vienna is built upon the expectation that every passenger already has a ticket before entering a tram, bus or subway.

Ticket vending machines are in subway stations and in tram trains. There is neither ticket selling in busses and subway trains, nor at tram and bus stops. You can buy tickets in tobacco shops, too.

If you really want to stick to your idea, download the WienMobil app onto your smartphone, create an account and buy your tickets online, which are stored on your smartphone then.
