Vienna Travel Pass

Is the Leisure Pass Group's Vienna Pass a good deal? They are touting a 20% off deal. And is it legit?

I've never heard of it - leisure pass group, I mean.

Could be but you need to figure out what you want to see over how many days and do the math.

For us, based on the itinerary I've planned a pass without transit included for part of our stay will save us money but a pass for the entire time we're in Vienna wouldn't. It could be very different for someone else depending on the specific plans.

Also note, there is a Vienna Card different from the Vienna Pass with completely different savings points, so might be worth looking at too and definitely important not to confuse them when you purchase.

We used the Vienna Pass on our October-November 2015 trip to Vienna and found it to be a great deal. It was a great deal for us because we are art and museum freaks. It covered every place we wanted to see, with the exception of the Belvedere. Even then, we used the included hop on/hop off bus to get to the Belvedere.

Take a look at the list of covered attractions and decide for yourself.

I am getting one for my trip in July/August. There's a sale going through tomorrow at the main Vienna Pass site--I would be sceptical of buying through a third party. You can buy online and get a voucher to turn it at the infodesk at the airport. That way you get the sale price but don't have to pay shipping to the US.

To me, this pass is a way to promote the worst of Vienna tourist attractions, such as the Hop on Hop off, Madame Toussaud's and that weird time travel thing at the Prater. I don't see how it pays off unless you force yourself to run around like a fool.

To be fair, the pass offers free admission to a wide variety of sites beyond Madame Tassauds including the Schönbrunn and Hofburg Palaces (including added fee places like the Palm House and Treasury), St. Stephens, the ferris wheel at Prater Park, and many museums now including the Belvedere.

We hardly plan to run around like fools, but I did the math and found it was the cheapest way for us to see the two palaces, the Belvedere and 2 other smaller sites we want to stop in at over the course of 2 days.

Again, the only thing I can say is look at what it covers then do the math and see what it costs with and without vs the price of the pass to see the things you plan on seeing. It may not be worth it for your plans but to rule it in or out without looking at what it is and does seems like a wasted opportunity.
