Vienna: small children on a rainy day?

This is probably a question for Emily, but anybody else who has experience with this - pease tell me what you think.

My family (not me) are coming to Vienna next week and I understand that the weather is going to be iffy. The children are two and four years old. They are good walkers (stroller included!), but where can they go if it is raining? We were thinking about the Naturhistorisches Museum - they know dinosaurs!

Is the Haus der Musik too diffficult for them?

Thank you so much for any ideas you can share.

I think you'll be ok with the weather as the forecast is showing just small chances of rain for short periods. Today, for example, the forecast showed rain, but I have to say it was the most glorious blue sky and weather up until 5 pm when some wind and clouds rolled in.

As for what to do -

Schonbrunn Zoo and Labyrinth - outside, yes, but the zoo has many indoor exhibits. The labyrinth has an awesome playground.

Haus Des Meeres - perfect for you kids ages. Leave the stroller at the lockers, take the elevator to the top and work your way down.

Natural History - for reasons mentioned.

Zoom Kindermuseum - Ocean play area is great, but you must reserve in advance.

Technical Museum - Super excellent play area and trains!

My top tip! If you are in Vienna on the weekend (Sept 23 & 24) you must go to the Mistfest (garbage festival). Fire trucks, brand new garbage trucks, games, good food, rides. Let me know if you need more info.

Meals - Go to a heuriger which are kid friendly. I like Feuerwehr Wagner. Great food too!

Thank you so much to both of you and Barry. I think the Mistfest sounds wonderful too. Thanks for all the suggestions.
