Vienna Ringstrasse tram after dark?

I was listening to Rick's tram ride tour on the Ringstrasse and it sounds really good. I wonder about whether the many buildings are illuminated after dark, and whether riding the tram in the evening would be a safe choice for some older American women. Thanks!

Very safe. I suspect the Wiener Staatsoper will be well lit. In June, it will be 10 pm before it gets really dark, and in December, it will be dark by 5 pm.

With evening music- and theater-performances indoors and outdoors throughout Vienna in summer, there'll be lots of people of all ages on foot and on public transport in the central and outer parts of the city. On the Ring, don't forget to step off the tram (either line 1 or 2) at their stops to get out and soak in some of the evening lights and atmosphere.

Are the buildings illuminated? Yes, including Votivkirche, Burgtheater, Rathaus, Parliament, KHM, Hofburg and the Opera.
Is the tram a safe choice for older American women? Vienna is just about the safest city in the world, so, yes, it is 100% safe (and I say this as an "older" American woman who has lived in Vienna for 15 years).

I don't think this was what the OP was asking about, but just in case they were, I have recently seen in Tramways & Urban Transit magazine that the non-stop Ringtram sightseeing tour departing from Schwedenplatz will not be reintroduced post-COVID and the vehicles used for it have been scrapped.

@Philip:

For the sightseeing tram, the host Wiener Linien (WL) website states that the "Vienna Ring Tram bleibt in der Remise" (is staying in the sheds), as of 3 March 2023.

@kbneedle:

As RS highlights in his Vienna book, regular WL tram routes 1 and 2 continue to run their usual routes around the Ring road; see the "City Plan" map from WL.

Clockwise around the Ring Boulevard (i.e. same direction as car traffic):
Tram #1 from Opera to Schwedenplatz, change to tram #2 to complete full circle to Opera.

Counterclockwise around the Ring Boulevard (i.e. opposite direction to car traffic):
Tram #2 from Opera to Schwedenplatz, change to tram #1 to complete full circle to Opera.

It isn't nonstop, you must change trams once. The full circle ride is about 25 minutes.
