Vienna Pocket Guide vs separate Map

I am planning on buying the Vienna Pocket Guide for an upcoming six day trip to Vienna. IS the separate laminated map worthwhile in addition to the guide or are both valuable together while walking around.

Don't know. I know the DK Eyewitness Top 10 sounds similar, map and all, and i think its good for walking with.

I spent 5 days in Vienna a couple trips ago. Only used Google Maps, no problems. It’s a very easy city to get around, walking, trams, subways. I doubt if you need a physical map. Pocket Guide should be fine.

The Vienna city app will do all the things you need, including walking around in real time with notes to attractions along your route

When I was there in May/June last year it was also possible to head into the Tourist Information office (just round the corner from the opera house) and pick up as many completely free paper maps as you'd like. Some free city maps from TI places are pretty rubbish, but we found these ones absolutely brilliant for planning and very usable on the go.

Do you like having a paper map? If so, the Streetwise maps are handy.

I use googlemaps for navigating but still find real maps useful for planning and getting an overview of a city. I like to see the “big picture” which is hard to do on a phone screen.
