My husband and I will be in Vienna for one night en route to Prague. We are considering an evening at Wiener Musikverein. Can anyone recommend this? Also looking for recommendations for dinner afterward.
Highly recommended, with a caveat - depending on your level of musical sophistication, the selections on the program will be a neccessary consideration. If you appreciate romantic era music , for example, ( mid to late nineteenth century ) you might not be thrilled with music of The Second Vienna School ( twelve tone expressionist works )
Well, the Musikverein (Große Saal or Golden/Grand Hall) is probably the most famous orchestral hall in the world, so, yes, it is recommended.
My guess is that you are talking about one of the tourist concerts? Mozart Orchestra, perhaps? Fun for non-serious performances but not what the Musikverein is famous for.
Dinner afterwards is not a thing - too late for Vienna.
