Vienna on the 25th December?

Our first day (of 3 to 3 1/2 full days) in Vienna is on Dec 25th. Out of all the sights to see which should we see that day? Is there anything special to savor for that day? We have never been to Austria. I am looking for something special..maybe the Schonbrunn Palace concert?

Dec. 25 falls on a Sunday this year, so stores will be closed. Austrian celebrate Christmas on Dec. 24, so attractions will more or less be open as normal. By Dec. 25, Christmas is over and the focus is on New Year's. It is also worth noting that Dec. 26 (Monday) is a public holiday and stores will also be closed that day.

Some Christmas Markets will still be open until Dec. 26, so your best bet is to head to those on your first two days before they close. The best ones open at that time will be Belvedere, Schonbrunn, Maria-Theresa Platz and Rathaus. Otherwise, it will be very cold so indoor activities like museums would be your best bet at staying warm.

For eating out, it is best to make reservations during your stay as many restaurants will be closed and/or already booked.
