This year , Daniel Barenboim will lead the Vienna Philharmonic in this , always luscious , program . While many great orchestras perform Viennese waltzes , only The Vienna Philharmonic plays them in the stylistically appropriate manner . It's hard to explain what they do to non musicians , but the music is performed with a lilt , unique to this orchestra . Watch your local PBS station this Saturday for the broadcast https://www.wienerphilharmoniker.at/en/newyearsconcert/newyearsconcert2022#the-beginnings-28120
This is a tradition in our house. It’s always a wonderful concert and we love the scenes from Vienna and surrounding areas not to mention the dancers.
Bet I can guess what's on the program....
"Radetzky March", Op. 228, anyone?
I have not missed to watch a single concert on TV for the past 40+ years, yet I never managed to get a ticket for the live performance.
Same here, wmt1, though it's a bit less than 40 years.
Enjoy!
