Vienna Music in July

Hi gang,

I am attending some opera performances at the Festspiele in Munich, and then heading to Vienna for a side trip in late July. I would love some recommendations for non-touristy music ideas there. I know the Staatsoper and Volksoper are closed, and I believe the Philharmonic is in Salzburg for the festival during that time.

It doesn't have to be strictly classical music. I'm a big fan of Paul Weller (Style Council; the Jam), who will be there in July but I haven't seen the dates announced yet. I suppose I can just pickup the Wien.info and see what strikes my fancy, but I would appreciate some rough ideas

Sorry, can't help you. I'll be at the Festspiele in Bayreuth. After 16 hours of Wagner, I'll be ready for some schlager music.

I'm in a similar situation, Todd. I'd love some ideas for nontouristy music in Vienna in late July.

What in the world is "non-touristy" music?
Does that mean no Strauss waltzes, no classical orchestral music, no organ recitals, no folk music?
Please explain.
