Vienna music Dec 23-27 help

I've been working on finding a concert to go to during our visit of Dec 23-27 but it seems to be somewhat limited because of the holidays? I have come up with this-Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra - Orangery Schoenbrunn. Has anyone been to that? I was hoping to see something at the Opera House that Ive somewhat heard of since Im not really into stuff like that but would love to experience it there. At the Opera house there is a Ballet and this-VEC MAKROPULOS while we are there. Can anyone give me some advice what I should see? Were pretty much up for anything. Im not educated in this stuff.

Thanks,

Aly

The Makropoulos Affair is a satyrical opera by Leos Janacek about a lady, daughter of a magician born in 1585, that manages to live for several centuries assuming different identities, mainly opera divas. When her formula is about to expire in 1922 she has the choice to renew it for further 300 years, but she prefers to die as living so long has taken too much a toll on her. A young lady is offered the recipe for her formula as well, but she is so terrified that she prefers to burn it on a candle.

The opera has no big tunes and is usually sung in its original Czech language, so if you are not very daring you will probably like more the ballet - a much more self-explaining form of performance.

La fille mal gardée is not bad at all - Ashton was a really good coreographer.

La Cenerentola is a brilliant Rossini opera, it is absolutely compelling if you manage to understand the Italian dialogue, but also the music is very tuneful and a great showpiece for good singers. It is the Cinderella story, with a comic opera twist - the fairy Godmother is turned in a serious philosopher that suggests the charming prince and his servant to temporarily exchange identities turning the situation into an hilarious mess but at the same time testing the true virtues of Cinderella.

The sextet in which everybody rolls exagerately their "r"s is the top of funny by operatic standards.
