Vienna Luggage Storage

We will be arriving in Vienna by train in the early afternoon and would like to visit the Belvedere Palaces before proceeding to our hotel. Is there luggage storage service at the Belvedere Palaces? If not, would it be practical to store bags at the train station, then retrieve them later?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi,

I used a coin locker at Wien Hbf on this past trip to store the luggage before taking the night train that night to Hamburg.

The good thing for you is that Wien Hbf (central station) is pretty close to Bevedere.

The lockers are located near the "Lost and Found." (in English). The big lockers cost 3,50 Euro, cheaper than those in Germany.

There is no key to operate these lockers. The instructions appear in other languages as well. For the German, press the "anmieten and abholen" key to retrieve the luggage at the end.

Thanks for the info. Is the distance to the Belvedere Palaces walkable from the train station? About how far is it?

The "Upper Belvedere" is about 1 km (.6 mi) away from main train station, i.e. about 15 minutes to walk.

Alternatively you can take the tram (lines O or 18) and go for one stop. You will have to use public transport anyway during your stay in Vienna, so you could buy appropriate tickets - depending on the duration of your stay - at the train station already.

The luggage lockers are on level -1 at main train station, i.e. one level down from street level. There are escalators in the middle of the main hall leading downwards.
