Hi arriving to vienna July 18 what hotel or hostel would you recommend and what is best location to stay at with easy access to train and sites in vienna?

What is your budget? The best area is district 1, in city center. You don't have to be near the train station, with the excellent public transit you can get to any station within minutes.

Rick's Vienna/Salzburg/Tirol guidebook recommends many accommodations either within the ring tramline, or just outside it. Mariahilferstrasse is between the ring and the Westbahnhof station, and is the location of several hostels and B&Bs, such as www.hargita.at. Vienna has a few train stations, serving different destinations.
