Vienna concerts

We are looking to do a classical concert while in Vienna. I’ve seen advertisements about classical ensemble concerts at St Peters Cathedral. Has anyone been to one and how did you like it? Plus any other suggestions for classical concerts of any type.
Thank you

I went to a string quartet in St. Anne's Church a couple of years ago and loved it. According to the website, they are still doing the concerts. It was an hour long, the church was lit with candles, and the acoustics were amazing in this beautiful small church. It was a highlight of my Vienna trip.

We went to a classical concert in the fortress a few years ago and really enjoyed the music and setting.

Depending on your degree of interest in who is performing, the Musikverein is a great place to see a performance. Built in the 1800's under the rule of Franz Joseph I, it remains one of the best performance halls in the world in terms of acoustics, and it is all kinds of Habsburg wonderful in terms of appearance.

Tagging on to Dave's post , The Musikverein was used as the model in the late nineteenth century , for Boston Symphony Hall . The architecture by the firm of McKim , Mead , and White recognized the superior acoustics of the shoebox shape and used it to great advantage .

There are numerous concerts held in Vienna, some mostly for tourists and others for audiences who enjoy full symphonies. The Musikverein is the premium venue but will be harder to book and more pricey. That said, the touristy ones are still delightful tho you need to suck up the lack of etiquette by the audience at times. I went to Vivaldi's 4 seasons recently at St Stephens. It was full and we were informed that there was to be no videoing. Dozens of people stood and videoed continuously and others left their seats and videoed from the sides completely unchecked. It was profoundly annoying. I would think a smaller, less famous venue might be better.
