Vienna City Card - 7 Day Ticket valid on weekends?

Hey there!

I'm interested in buying the Vienna City Card, but I'm a little confused on what the 'calendar day' 7 day ticket means and if it's valid on weekends. I had heard before they sometimes the travel cards have to be repurchased at the beginning of the week. Would anybody know if I purchased one starting August 9th (a Friday) for 7 days if it would be good until August 15th or if I would need to repurchase starting on Monday?

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: I think there's been some confusion. I'm referring to the Vienna City Card (which is the new name for the 7 day public transport pass) not the ViennaPass which is the card for attractions/museums/recreation! I know from watching videos of previous public transport cards that they were only valid Mon-Friday for the 'week' so I was wondering if that was the case with the new version of the card, thanks!

You should do the math and estimate whether the higher price of the Vienna City Card pays off. Can you make use of so many reductions that you are better off than with a plain 7-days public transport pass?

I usually do not recommend the Vienna City Card as I have learned from friends and guests that they didn't visit so many sights as originally planned. It is no fun rushing from one place to another just to reach the financial break even point.

I'm in Vienna right now and have found the art and decorative art museums to be very time-consuming. I've spent nearly a full day at each of these museums: the Upper + Lower Belvedere, the Albertina, the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Leopold Museum. Of course, the typical visitor spends less time in such museums than I do, but the size of the museums can affect how many places you visit over the course of a visit.

In addition, Vienna has a lot of lovely Baroque churches, many of them free. Time spent seeing free churches is time not spent using a sightseeing card.

acraven...you sound just like me!
I pretty much plan one (major) art museum per day and enjoy every minute! It's good to hear I'm alone in that habit.
Have a wonderful time.

Correct.

Not correct.

The Vienna City Card combines a public transport pass with entrance fee reductions at certain museums and sights. Additionally you can book hop-on hop-off buses and airport transfer as an extension.

The old calendar week public transport pass has been abandoned. The new pass comes in two variants having different prices: 7 Days VIENNA and 7 Days Digital VIENNA.

Thanks wmt1. I had used the old format card on a trip last year. Glad to hear that Vienna has gone to a flexible 7-day pass.

The flexible 7-day pass has been introduced August 2022, available online only, without any public announcement. It was widely unknown for a long time. I detected it coincidentally when searching for something different on the website of Wiener Linien.
