Vienna Apartment Location

Trying to make a decision on an apartment for 6 nights in Vienna. We are looking at outside the Innere Stadt but want to be close to easy public transport, supermarket, coffeehouse/bakery. We will be arriving and departing by train to Budapest and hope to do a day trip to either Melk or Bratislava. Thoughts on any of these areas:

-near Schloss Belvedere
-near intersection of Apostelgasse and Landstrasser Hauptstrasse
- near Anton-Baumann Park
-near intersection of Kegelgasse and Lowengasse

Thank you!

1, 2 and 4 are all in the Third District, so fairly close together. I live in the Third. In addition to the Belvedere and Hundertwasserhaus, the Third is a bit up and coming with interesting shops and restaurants popping up around Rochusmarkt. The Third is also close to the center. I can walk to Stephansplatz in 20-25 minutes and tram 71 goes right to the Ring.

Your #3 is far from sites and not a real pretty neighborhood. It is right across from the huge public city hospital, so noise will also be an issue.

Supermarkets, cafes and bakeries are on every corner of Vienna. Public transportation is ubiquitous, efficient and affordable in Vienna.

Relations of my wife and friends from New York and New Hampshire had stayed already three times in this apartment:

Read the description and the reviews. It fulfills all the requirements you have stated.

(As far as I can remember the apartment can be booked via TripAdvisor as well.)

Checkout KTBoardinghouse.at. K&T is 50 feet from the entrance to the metro, and one stop outside the Ring toward the Westbahnhof train station.

We first stayed with them 18 years ago when we found out Rick Steve's was a close friend of Males and Tina. Their new property has large rooms and is incredibly clean.

Very helpful!! Thank you. I have inquired at KT Boardinghouse and like it, but we want kitchen facilities and I don't see that KT has those available. Getting closer to making a final decision - I appreciate your help.

Use Booking.com to find a place. Not saying to actually book through them, but most of the professionally run apartments seem to be listed the these days. This is one of the few sites that actually shows you fairly exactly where the property is located, most just show a large circle 4 blocks in diameter and there can be good and not so good locations in that circle. Once you find a few places shop them on AirBnb and the other rental sites and do the deal you are most comfortable with. Don't forget to look for the owner's personal site as that's where the lowest cost is likely to be as well as a place to negotiate.

Check out the Sacher apartments (yes, the cake family) - in a corner building with stunning views of St Stephan's - or a quieter 2 bedroom apartment in the back, with A/C - the U Bahn station is a few steps away:

https://www.pension-sacher.at/en

All Apartments are on the 7th floor, are spacious, have kitchens, clothes washers, and floor to ceiling windows. These are not ultra-modern upscale apartments - They are a little old fashioned - wood floors and oriental rugs, but charming, SPACIOUS, and affordable! Email them - they will respond quickly with available apartments and prices.
Take a look.

Celtic0103, Pension Sacher is on my short list. Looks like just what we want but are hoping to find something a little less expensive. Have you stayed there?

James E, Booking.com is one of my favs too for the initial scanning. Oh, the time I can spend! Luckily I love the search process

Sorry I can't help you in Vienna. I've stayed at the Astoria (Terriable) and the Imperial (stunning). But neither sound like what you are looking for.

If you need help in Budapest I am a tad bit more helpful.

We recently stayed at the airbnb apartment listed as "City Center Luxurious Apartment" that is located just down the street from the Belvedere. Sorry, I'm not certain how to insert a link. At any rate, we loved it and found it to be very convenient to either walk or take the tram to most locations in the city. If you would like further info, please feel free to PM me.
