I will be traveling to Vienna and Salzburg at the end of July, and would like suggestions as to transport between cities, and what I must see/do. My base will be in London, and I plan on flying to Vienna, which is much cheaper than Salzburg.

Salzburg is a small airport. I would fly London to Munich, train to Salzburg, train to Vienna, fly Vienna to London. I dont like to backtrack and waste time in transit, especially when you have so little.

That's a pretty good idea. Even better you can basically catch the train right from the Munich airport. (You may have to make one change.) If you time it right you can grab something to eat on the train and hit the ground running in Salzburg.
