Vienna and Melk (coming from Cesky Krumlov)

I am traveling three weeks in Eastern Europe with the following itinerary:

Prague (4 nights)
Cesky Krumlov (2 nights)
Vienna (3 nights)
Budapest (4 nights)
Salzburg (3 nights)
Munich (3 nights)

I really want to do a day trip to Melk and would love your opinions on how to best do this.

option 1: Stop in Melk on the to Vienna from Cesky Krumlov. Would take a shuttle. Problem here is that I am stuck with my luggage. I can leave it in a locker at the train station, but if we boat ride to Krems I have to back track to Melk.

option 2: Stay in Cesky Krumlov for only ONE night and add another night to Vienna. Do a day trip to Melk from Vienna.

Thoughts?

What if you checked with a shuttle company? CK Shuttle will do a day trip from Vienna to Cesky Krumlov and back for $65. They'll let you stay in CK for a few hours and then take you back to Vienna. I imagine they would also pick you up in CK, take you to Melk for a few hours and then drop you in Vienna. We used them for a city transfer and they were great. http://www.ckshuttle.cz/day-trips/from-cesky-krumlov-to-vienna/

Hi, I would like to add this past September we choose to stay two nights in Melk on our way from Cesky Krumlov to Vienna (using CKShuttle), and we loved the peacefulness and the friendliness of this town. We really enjoyed ourselves. If you go for only part of a day, the most you will be able to do is a tour of the Melk Abbey.

We took the train from Melk to Vienna and it is about an hour train ride. You might want to consider it as a day trip from Vienna.

Have fun planning....
