Vienna Airport to Wien Hauptbahnhof

There are 2 City Airport Trains every hour, requiring a change at Wien-Mitte, and 2 S-bahns every hour requiring a change at Wien Rennweg. Takes about half an hour.

I would strongly recommend the S-Bahn train as the CAT train is MASSIVELY more expensive. The station at the airport is set up to manipulate naive people into buying CAT train tickets. as the CAT ticket machine is at the entrance to the station but you won't find an S-Bahn ticket machine until you get onto the platform.

So likewise, going from Westbahnhof to Wien airport, is the S Bahn the best way? I'll be staying about half way between the ring and station. Flight will be on a Sat morning... How much time is needed for int'l flight check in? Thanks for any tips.

If you are close to either the U3 or U4 line stations, take that to Mitte-Landstrasse and change to the S7 to the airport. Hard experience has taught me to be standing on line at the check-in desk 2 hours before scheduled departure time.

Yes I'm right near U3. Thank you. My host said it's €30-35 from here via taxi. The book also lists a driver that Rick recommends. As I'm heading home on this flight and carrying some extra luggage I may just opt for that. Do you think these cost estimates are accurate? Thanks again. Appreciate the info!

Philip and Sam, thank you for the advice. We took the S-bahn from VIE to Wien Hbf easily and smoothly. The S-bahn was less than half the price of the CAT. Susan
