My wife and I are flying into Vienna and immediately heading to Prague on the train. I'm trying to book a train reservation. How long will it take from our airplane arrival time (10:50 AM) to get to the Meidling Station for a train departure. Also, what mode of transport from the airport to the train station should we use -taxi, bus, other?

The train takes about 5 hours direct from Vienna. I would plan on catching the train no earlier than 1pm but 2pm would probably be safer. That would have you in Prague no earlier than 7pm. The express bus might be the best way to go as it goes directly to the Meidling station in about 30 minutes.
By Bus: Convenient express airport buses go to various points in Vienna: Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz U-Bahn station (for city-center hotels, 20 minutes), Westbahnhof (for Mariahilfer Strasse hotels, 45 minutes), and Wien-Meidling Bahnhof (30 minutes). Double check your destination as you board (€8, round-trip-€13, 2/hour, buy ticket from driver, tel. 0810-222-333 for timetable info, www.viennaairportlines.at or www.postbus.at).

Thanks so much. Great help from all who replied. With us arriving at the airport at 10:50 there's a 14:30 train to Prague from the Meidling Station - sounds like that leaves plenty of time. Do we need to make a train reservation or can we just arrive at Meidling and buy a ticket? My worry in reserving is that the plane arrival could be delayed and we wouldn't make the 2:30 train.
