Vienna Airport to Leonardo Boutique Hotel Salzburg Gablerbräu

Hi all!!

Love all the advice. We are looking to take public transportation from the airport in Vienna to the
Leonardo Boutique Hotel Salzburg Gablerbräu, in Salzburg. I have spent some time researching it and am confusing myself more and more. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Also, we are heading to Aying, Germany from Salzburg and we would like to visit Munich from there. A few days later we are heading back to Vienna to finish out our trip. Any recommendations on the best public transportation passes to buy? I have been looking at the 10 day flex pass.

Thanks for all of your help

At what date do you plan to travel?

There are direct trains from Vienna International Airport to Salzburg.

Edit:
This is no longer true for the new after-flood time table. All long-distance (RailJet) trains terminate at Vienna's main train station (Hauptbahnhof [Hbf]). Between Hauptbahnhof and the airport there is an express shuttle train every half an hour, designated D 30xxx. So a change is required at the main train station for any onward travel.

I don't think a 10-day flex pass is going to help you much. You only have 2 big train trips, one from Vienna airport to Salzburg and Munich to Vienna. Salzburg to Aying is a Bayern Ticket, costing just 39 EUR for 2 people, and gives free transportation within Bavaria for the day, including departure from Salzburg Hbf. In the Munich area, a multiday group ticket will cover you with all modes of public transport in the district. Finally, you can purchase the Munich-Vienna ticket in advance for a discount. The cost of the Vienna airport to Salzburg is 130 EUR for 2 people bought when you arrive. Tell them you want to go to Salzburg Makartplatz, and the ticket will include the bus from Salzburg Hbf to within about 100 yds from your hotel.

for the trip from Aying back to Vienna which train service would you suggest?

There is not much choice. You take the S7 local train from Aying to Munich, and there you change to any express train to Vienna (by either OeBB or Westbahn).
