any suggestions for hotel in Vienna that isn't too terribly expensive but in a good location? We are only there for 2 days and then going to book a train to Krakow.
Thank you

Define "too terribly expenisve" and "good location" Cause what I consider to be the best location for a short visit (inside or imediately adjacent to the Ringstrasse) is going to cost you $300+ and up a night in the summer.
I would go to Google Maps (as a start) put in Stephansplatz which is about dead center in the Ringstrasse (and the ring shaped roads with all of the landmarks on them are the boundaries. Then click on the Hotel Icon. Put in the dates and set the maximum price to your limit and see what Google Shows you. Most of the stuff to see is on the southwest side of the zone so if you need to go out side the loop, maybe thats the best direction to go. Thats a start at least.
Maybe Emily will come along wiht specific recommendations.
I can't believe it's been 10 years since we were in Vienna... But this hotel still gets great reviews on TripAdvisor and booking.com:
On the budget side I stayed a Pension Suzanne a couple years ago. Location is great. Around the corner from the Opera House; walking distance to museums; subway and tram a block away.

We also liked Pension Suzanne. Good location, kind staff, and price was in our budget. They did have portable a/c units in the rooms, if that’s a concern. We were there in June and didn’t need it.
Pension Suzanne, Great location. Okay 1970's style looking 3 star hotel. I looked because I have to spend 2 nights in Vienna in June. But my nights are $250 each on Booking.com (cancelable) I am hoping I can do better. The cheapest of my past hotels, the Astoria 4 star is $290 (cancelable) but i think a nicer hotel and equally as well located. Still, i hope i can do better. Let me know what you find. Neither included breakfast.
I am happy to help make specific recommendations based on your dates. Can you share your dates, please, so that I can do some checking? I know that everyone on here loves Pension Suzanne for some reason, but the chances that it is available for your dates are slim and there are likely better options.
