Has anyone flown on Tyrolean Air? They have a flight from Vienna to Washington Dulles that is available for my United FF miles. Would you fly on this airline?
Tyrolean is a subsidy of Austrian Airlines so it more than likely you will be aboard an Austrian Airlines operated flight. It will be much better than flying United.
I'm flying Vienna - Chicago on Tyrolean Air/ D/B/A Austrian Airlines April 8th.
I looked on the websites, and appears that their planes have been retrofitted with the latest interior setup and electronics. I too am optimistic that they'll be a big improvement over United. They're out of Innsbruck, and I expect that Austrian efficiency and pride in their operations.
As noted above, you'll be flying with Austrian Airlines (you won't see any hint of Tyrolean on or in the aircraft). I have flown on the Austrian flight from Dulles to Vienna numerous times. Food is great, touchpad entertainment system in economy, friendly flight attendants. Best choice for traveling to Vienna.
Just to add...you will find no trace of Tyrolean at the airport as you will be greeted with huge Austrian Airline banners, staff in bright red Austrian Airlines uniforms and aircraft with Austrian Airlines logos, colors, branding, etc.
Thanks for the replies. I decided on Tyrolean air for a trip to Vienna and Luftsansa returning from Frankfurt. Used United miles before devaluation.
If checking in at Dulles for your flight to Vienna, look for Austrian Airlines check-in. It is shared by the Lufthansa desk.
