Tyrol / SalzburgerLand area end of May

Hi,

I will likely need to take my holiday end of May. I would love to do hiking/walking (and sightseeing) in the Tyrol or SalzburgerLand lakes area end of May. I noticed from webcams there is still a good amount of snow in the Tyrol.

Does anyone have any suggestions for best places to be end of May weather-wise and for walking?
I found hotels I like in:

Alpbach
Kramsach
Bad Gastein

But I am open to other areas. Mostly I'd like sunny days with moderately challenging walks especially near water.
It needs to be near public transportation as I will not be renting a car.

Does anyone have any suggestions on places that meet this criteria?

Thank you and all the best,
Annie

I do not know how the walking will be in May that may be still a transitional season. Personally I would choose Alpbach that is the nicer village - Kramsach is a bottom-of-the-main-valley place, while I find Badgastein a little ghostly as so many hotels were abandoned in the last year.
I would consider also villages over Innsbruck like Igls (best public transportation), Lans, Aldrans, Natters.

We visited in mid-late May a few years ago and stayed in Bad Gastein. We had no problems with snow and enjoyed some of the best hiking ever. There are so many options in the area you won't be disappointed. One of our favorites was Reedsee. Beautiful hike - we didn't see another person the entire day. I can't vouch for the other two but don't believe you can go wrong with Bad Gastein. Have a great trip ! We are headed there the first of May !
