We have two good rates for two Vienna hotels/pensiones for a two night, three day stay -- Hotel Austria and Pension Suzanne. Which is better in terms of rooms, quiet, location, etc. Thanks!
I'd be surprised if you found someone who had stayed in both and could do a true comparison. I have set foot in neither, but have walked past them many times. The street the Suzanne is on has cars; the one on Fleischmarkt is pedestrianized. They are both convenient to sights. They both rate well on booking and trip advisor. I'd say it's a toss up.
Thanks. Pension Suzanne it is -- the rate is better, too.
mh,
I would also highly recommend Pensione Suzanne. I stayed there a few months ago, and found the room very comfortable, the staff were great, they serve a nice breakfast and it's in a great location. It's only about a one minute walk to the Opera and the entrance to the large pedestrian street that goes toward St. Stephen's Cathedral. There's also a Metro station nearby and a couple of restaurants right across the street, and lots more along the pedestrian street.
Concur with Ken. Stayed there in 2014 and couldn't have been happier. Great location--convenient to everything and a block from subway and trams. Staff is quite helpful and will go out of their way to assist.
Hi,
I know the location of Pension Suzanne, which I checked out the last time in Vienna, don't know the other hotel. Suzanne is my choice too, very close to the Staatsoper, further down as you pass the Staatsoper on the right you run into Karlsplatz and its large underground passage. Staying at Pension Suzanne you are just a few steps from Cafe Sacher.
I would contact the pension directly with these questions.
Mrs.EB,
As I recall, the Wi-Fi worked fine in my room but that may vary throughout the building. Whether it was fast enough for FaceTime is difficult to say, as I didn't try that.
Mrs.EB,
My room was on the same floor as the front desk and the breakfast room, so the signal was probably good there. I believe there was an "upstairs level" too, and I don't know if there was any difference in signal strength there.
