Two Days in Salzburg

We are two couples with two solid days in Salzburg (April 23-26). before heading to Passau to get on a boat trip. What are some must-sees? We are in our late 60s, active, enjoy outdoors, good food/beer/coffee/baked goods, and interesting landmarks. Not so interested in Sound of Music. I read to get a Salzburg card - still worth it for two days?

We arrive by train around 6 or 7 pm. Best to take a taxi to Air BnB lodging?

Departing Salzburg for Passau on 4.26.24 I see two options: 8:00 am bus, or train with varied departure times. Will most likely shy away from 8:00 am departure. Are possible private hires/vans available and pricey? Thank you.

Rick's guidebook does a good job of covering the sights and I highly recommend his walking tour of Salzburg. The Salzburg card comes in 24, 48 or 72 hour versions. If you are going to the fortress, Mozart's birthplace and Mozart's house it is a good deal as it also covers local buses. It depends on where your BnB is as to if you should take a taxi or not.

For me Augustiner Bräu Mülln, Schloss Mirabellgarten and the view from the Museum der Moderne.

Good news, you can visit Salzburg without dealing with SoM. Go to the Wolfgangsee and enjoy the mountains.

In Passau, give yourself time to visit the glass museum!
