We will be touring Austria in the September-October timeframe. We will be in Klagenfurt and would like to see Lake Bled which is very close. I know that Slovenia is in the EU, but are they on the Euro. Are there any restrictions we need to know before we go. We will traveling by car. Thanks in advance.
Earl
Yes, they use the Euro.
You must buy a Slovenian Vignette, which is a toll sticker for the car windshield, needed for driving on highways in Slovenia. Without this expect a big fine. Austria has their own Vignette needed for driving on Austrian highways.

To add - buying the Slovenian vignette is very easy. Once you get through the long tunnel connecting Austria and Slovenia, you are forced to stop at a toll booth on the Slovenian side where you guy the vignette and attach it to your windshield.
Be sure to visit Vintgar Gorge as I think it is more of a highlight than Lake Bled itself.
Thank you. Great advice.
I second Vintgar Gorge! It was a highlight for us!
The road signs will give you warning that you need to buy a vignette PRIOR to driving into Slovenia. Just be watching and pull off the highway when signs indicate they are for sell at the exit.
You mention Sept - Oct ... not sure when you plan to visit the area of Lake Bled but there is a huge, international rowing competition there from 6 - 10 September. 3000+ rowers and their families will descend on the area starting Monday or Tuesday of that week. No lodging available for miles and miles! Just thought you would want to know!
