Travel in November to Vienna

Planning on a 5 day trip to Vienna end of November. I understand this is not high season - interested if certain tourist attractions are closed.

No, all major sights are open. Only if outdoor activities are involved there may be some restrictions, e.g. earlier closure of parks, reduced attractions at Prater amusement park, etc.

But end of November the season of Christmas markets has already started which you will enjoy for sure.

And a lot of things for local people are on full swing -- opera, Philharmonic are often on tour during the summer but back home for the winter.

Not sure when the Christmas Markets open in Vienna, but just down the road in Budapest (2.5 hrs on the train) the markets open in mid-November. It will be either the 8th or the 15th; but it isnt published yet. They stay open until January 1st; with limited hours on December 24 and 25. Should be published in the next 30 - 60 days...

The Vienna Christmas markets' schedule for 2019 has not been published yet. But traditionally the first Christmas markets open in the 3rd week of November, the majority in the 4th week of November. Most markets close on December 23rd, a few continue for another week.

I'm going in mid-November and am a bit jealous of your time since all of the Christmas markets will be open by then. It's my first time so I didn't even know this was a thing. Thankfully, we are there 4 days until Nov. 15 so we will at least see some of these beautiful Christmas markets. All the youtube videos have me super excited! From the research I've done, most if not all attractions are open. I'm just curious about the weather and how cold it would be by then. Maybe there won't be a lot of outdoor activities to do but yes, I also see that almost everything is open. Hoping to catch the ballet or a musical concert as well. Enjoy your trip to Vienna!
