Been to the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland and thought it was the prettiest place in the world.
I’m wondering if Austria has anything to compare and if you could give me some recommendations.
Plan to travel there next summer.
Thanks.
Zillertal and Stubaital south of Innsbruck... Not quite Lauterbrunnen, really nice though and waaaay cheaper. Or, go to the Dolomite region of Italy - Officially the South Tirol/Suedtirol.
Bring your hiking shoes.

Hallstatt, Austria.
Kleinwalsertal. Part of Austria but easily accessible only from Germany (Oberstdorf).
Try the Grossglockner High Alpine Highway that runs from Zell-am-See over the mountain (south) to Lienz, Austria.
The valleys from the south end of the road are beyond spectacular.

Bill,
As someone else suggested, Hallstatt would be a good place to consider - https://images.app.goo.gl/m8Bqn2rvvuvXWx8L9 . It's not quite the same as the Lauterbrunnen Valley, but still one of the most beautiful places I've seen in Europe.
Hi Bill,
For something as close to the Berner Oberland in Austria? The southern part of the Zillertal. Hands down. We stayed in Finkenberg.

Take a look a bit farther south into the Pustertal in Südtirol. Beautiful Dolomiten, Alps and country. We stayed in Sesto/Sexton, hiked locally to the Talschlusshütte, surrounding mountains (with some lift help) and drove to Bruneck and Sterzing. One of our best late Spring trips.
