I will be in Vienna for 5 days and would like to take a side trip to see the Slav Epic in Czech Republic. It appears there is a train that would be under three hours each way. I could rent a car for the day for a shorter travel time. Alternatively, are there tour companies that I could hire? thanks so much!
The train connection from Vienna to Moravsky Krumlov is 2:30 hours with one change in Brno.
Going by car is 2 hours, assuming optimal traffic and weather conditions.
I doubt that saving one hour of travel time is worth the cost and hassles of going by car, either on your own or having a hired driver.
Train is almost always the answer in Europe. Just ask that guy lurking in Seat 61.
Excellent advice! thanks
