Transportation from Airport to Hotel

Normally we would take public transportation but we are traveling to Vienna with our 7 year old in November and not sure she will be up for it after the flight. Are taxis/Ubers easy to get from the airport? Are Ubers more economical? We are staying in the Ringstrasse. Thanks.

Uber is not popular in Vienna, and the price difference to a taxi is minimal.

Best is to pre-order a taxi providing all details (flight number, number of people, pieces of luggage, destination address, payment method). You will receive then a confirmation bearing a fixed price (usually between €35 and €40).

Although a special child's seat is not required for taxis (other than for regular cars), many companies offer it on request.

Just taking one of the taxis waiting outside of the arrival hall may be more expensive.

There are several ways to get from the airport to the city using public transport. Which to use depends on the location of your accommodation. Most likely you will have at least one change during the trip, which might be uncomfortable when carrying all your luggage.

From the airport to the Ringstrasse is approximately 12 miles, and it's a straight shot up there.

We traveled with youngsters, and 7 years olds are old enough to handle their own luggage with a kid size rolling bag on trips.

We’ve started ordering airport pickups and drop offs through booking.com. We do prepay but it has worked out well so far. Just used them in Spain this past month. They have a link on the first row if their website.

At least in Vienna, there is absolutely no need to book an airport taxi through a third-party company or to pay in advance.

Just book online and pay after the ride. There are several taxi operators who offer a flat fare between the airport and the city.
