Transportation and hotel recs for early flight

We have a quick 2 stay in Vienna and then an early flight (6:50am) to Spain the next morning. Looking for transportation and hotel recommendations, or suggested areas for hotels, for stay to see sites and also to accommodate early flight. Mostly, I’m debating whether we should stay one night in the city center and then switch to an airport hotel (and currently have the Moxie Hotel at the airport booked) vs stay two nights in the city center. Thank you!

Getting to the Vienna Airport at that early time will probably mean a taxi if you stay in the city. Staying at an airport hotel will make it easier but that could also mean a lost evening in Vienna. (Depending on how early you wanted to get to sleep.)

Three weeks ago, I stayed at the NH hotel next to the airport due to an early morning flight. The NH is across the street from the train station which is next to the terminal. (The Moxy is a block away.) The NH is a big convention hotel. The service is lacking and it's nothing to write home about. I stayed because of the location.

You could spend one night in Vienna. When you checkout, have them hold your bags until early evening so you can spend more time in the city and then head to the airport and the Moxy. This way you have no travel the morning of your flight except a quick walk to the terrminal.

Thank you, how long is the walk from the NH hotel? I’ve read it takes about 20 minutes and that’s about the same as a taxi/Uber from the city.

You can do what Frank suggests - park your bags in your hotel and go out to the airport the night before your AM flight . I visit Vienna frequently, and that is my MO . I've read before about a twenty minute walk from the NH ( where I stay ) before - it's nonsense . Five minutes from the hotel to the terminal entrance

It takes 20 minutes in a taxi from Vienna city center to the airport. To change a hotel will take more than 20 minutes. You come out ahead by just staying both nights in Vienna plus it is much, much nicer. Don’t waste your time staying at the airport. You only need to arrive at the airport at 5:15- 5:30 anyway.

As Steven stated, it's five minutes to the terminal. About half that to the train station.

The Moxy is slightly further.

Thank you all for your responses. We decided to stay in the city per Emily’s advice.
